Pico Pigmentation
A targeted treatment for pigment-related concerns including melasma, sun damage, age spots, and uneven skin tone. This approach focuses on breaking down excess pigment within the skin while maintaining surrounding tissue integrity.
Tattoo Removal
Utilising advanced picosecond technology, this treatment works to gradually break down tattoo ink particles within the skin. Suitable for a range of ink colours, with treatment plans tailored based on tattoo size, depth, and colour.
How the Pico Laser Works
The Enlighten SR Pico Laser delivers ultra-short bursts of energy in picoseconds, targeting pigment particles within the skin without excessive heat damage. This photoacoustic effect shatters pigment into smaller fragments, allowing the body to naturally clear it over time.
Unlike traditional lasers, pico technology focuses more on precision rather than heat, which helps reduce the risk of irritation and allows for treatment across a broader range of skin types.
In addition to targeting pigmentation, the laser also stimulates collagen production, supporting improved skin texture, tone and overall skin quality.

The Pico Laser may be considered for a range of skin concerns, including:

Suitability for each concern is assessed individually, as not all pigmentation types respond the same way to laser treatment.
Treatment & Downtime
Pico Laser treatments are generally well tolerated with minimal downtime. Some clients may experience mild redness, warmth or slight sensitivity following treatment, which typically settles within a short period.
For pigmentation-focused treatments, a series of sessions is often recommended. Most clients may require 1–5 treatments spaced over time, with maintenance treatments depending on the condition being addressed.
Melasma and certain pigment conditions require ongoing management rather than a one-time treatment. Your practitioner will guide you through an appropriate plan during your appointment.
Treatment suitability for different skin types (Fitzpatrick I–IV, and carefully assessed for higher Fitzpatrick types) will always be determined prior to proceeding.

Sarah is a qualified Registered Nurse and Dermal Therapist who brings a unique combination of medical and beauty knowledge to SM Aesthetic Lab. Holding a Diploma in Beauty Therapy (2018) and a Bachelor of Nursing (2024), she offers a comprehensive and well-rounded approach to cosmetic treatments and skin health.
Sarah has completed her foundational training in cosmetic injectables through Fresh Clinics, including Introduction to Anti-Wrinkle and Dermal Fillers. She also holds certifications in Vascular Compromise Management and Emergency Response in Aesthetic Practice, ensuring client safety and best-practice care at every stage of treatment.
Passionate about helping clients feel confident and empowered, Sarah focuses on tailoring every treatment to suit the individual’s skin type, aesthetic goals, and lifestyle. Her dual background allows her to approach each consultation with both a clinical and holistic mindset, promoting natural results and long-term skin health.
Nurse Jen – Registered Nurse | Laser Technician
Nurse Jen is dedicated to enhancing natural features, anti-aging, and providing personalised care with ongoing support. With a Diploma of Nursing (2020), a Bachelor of Nursing (2022), and she performs volumizing treatments, wrinkle treatments, skin rejuvenation procedures, and facial balancing techniques.
Having honed her skills and techniques under Nurse Maddy and through advanced training with Teoxane, Hygel, and more, Jen takes a holistic approach to facial assessments, carefully considering proportions, symmetry, and individual facial structure to achieve natural, balanced results. She tailors every treatment plan to ensure subtle enhancements that maintain skin integrity while supporting long-term rejuvenation.
Nurse Seph – Registered Nurse | Dermal Therapist
Nurse Seph began her journey in aesthetics at SM Aesthetic Lab as the clinic’s first employee, where she developed a strong passion for client care and the science behind skin health. This inspired her to complete her Bachelor of Nursing, graduating in 2023, followed by further training in cosmetic medicine and dermal therapies at AACDS before returning to the clinic to continue building her clinical expertise.
Seph is deeply committed to ensuring every patient feels safe, comfortable, and well-informed, with a focus on natural, refreshed results. She is passionate about skin health, ongoing education, and supporting her patients with genuine care and honest advice. Outside the clinic, Seph is a mum to a beautiful baby boy, an avid reader, and a true crime podcast listener.
